Superintendent's Message
Ceres Unified School District Community,
What a profound honor it is to lead this district that is near and dear to my heart. My roots in Ceres run deep! My parents moved our family here more than 40 years ago, drawn by the strong sense of community and the quality of CUSD’s educational system. I am a Ceres High School graduate and served as Principal at both Sam Vaughn Elementary and Central Valley High School. Most recently, I was the district’s Deputy Superintendent of Educational Services. Today, with my own family, I’m proud to call Ceres home!
I am excited to share with you the vision and values that make Ceres Unified a place where every student can shine.
We believe that learning is a partnership between students, staff, families, and the community. From the moment students enter our district, no matter where they are in their educational journey, we work collaboratively to meet every child’s unique needs. We set high standards and provide resources and support to help all students grow academically, socially, physically, and behaviorally.
Our staff take to heart CUSD’s motto: Committed to Excellence, Responsive to Every Student. Our shared goal is that students feel connected to their school and community and are future-ready when they graduate. Whether they choose college, a career, or the military, they have what they need to achieve their dreams.
Across our 20 neighborhood schools, we offer student-focused programs and services that support successful outcomes, including:
Chromebooks for every student
Mental health services and social-emotional-behavioral supports
Free online tutoring and academic support
Free after-school care until 6 p.m. (grades TK-8) and summer programs (grades TK-12)
Free breakfast and lunch
Family Resource Center
Whether you are a student, parent, staff member, or neighbor, thank you for being a part of our educational community. We value transparency and welcome new ideas and diverse perspectives to help us grow and improve. Please feel free to connect with me at ceresusd@ceresusd.net.
Sincerely,
Amy Peterman, Ed.D.
